Dr. Jeremy Liu is an attending gastroenterologist and expert in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. He practices at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM), where he also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Researcher. His academic and clinical work centre on improving care for people with IBD through digital innovation, data integration and artificial intelligence.

Dr. Liu earned his medical degree, internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Montréal. He went on to complete advanced fellowship training in IBD at the University of British Columbia, where he helped develop a novel IBD registry and gained specialized expertise in advanced endoscopic resection techniques for IBD-associated colorectal neoplasia. He also holds a specialized degree in digital health from the University of Montreal School of Public Health, where he focused on health data analysis, management and the use of artificial intelligence in medicine.

Combining clinical practice with technological innovation, Dr. Liu’s research explores how digital tools can enhance disease understanding and patient outcomes. His work includes developing data registries, performance dashboards and AI-driven models to optimize care delivery in IBD. Dr. Liu is also part of the Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy Clinic, participating in the resection of complex lesions associated with IBD.

Dr. Liu has received research bursaries and fellowship awards, including from the Quebec Association of Gastroenterologists (AGEQ) and CHUM. He participates in research and educational activities, organizes educational conferences and mentors trainees. Through his integrated approach to patient care, research and education, Dr. Liu is advancing the future of IBD management in Canada and beyond.
