The clinic is available to current CHUM IBD Centre patients. Other individuals with IBD who are seeking expert surgical guidance or a second opinion will need a referral to the centre from their doctor.

How does the centre coordinate with colorectal surgeons?

The CHUM IBD Centre supports patients before and after surgery, including assessing when surgery may be needed, preparing patients for surgery, and providing close follow-up during recovery and long-term IBD management.

When a surgical evaluation or procedure is required, we refer patients to the CHUM Surgical Clinic and work closely with their team. This collaboration ensures patients receive specialized surgical care while maintaining continuity of IBD care through our centre. This includes sharing medical inenseignement, reviewing imaging and test results, and planning pre- and post-operative care.
