Patients must be referred by their doctor to the CHUM IBD Centre. Due to high demand, the CHUM IBD Centre prioritizes referrals for patients with complex or high-risk inflammatory bowel disease requiring specialized or tertiary-level care. All referrals are reviewed and triaged by our clinical team.

We welcome referrals for patients with:

  • Suspected IBD requiring diagnostic confirmation
  • Confirmed and complex IBD with moderate to severe activity
  • Refractory disease and/or loss of response to several advanced therapies
  • Consideration for combination of advanced therapies or clinical trials
  • Complex IBD with multiple complications
  • Pregnancy or family planning in the context of IBD

Patients with stable, uncomplicated IBD may be best managed in the community by their primary care provider or local gastroenterologist.

Referrals may be sent by the primary care provider or specialist and should include relevant clinical inenseignement and recent investigations when available.
